Nerdy Tees Just In Time for Halloween!

With All Hallow’s eve now less than three weeks away, it’s time to hunker down and start putting together those nerdy/awesome costumes.  A prospect which, if you’re a hardcore cosplayer who goes all out for conventions anyway, is probably no sweat off your back. (Unless you’re a furry, in which case you’re probably sweating constantly regardless.)  The rest of us, especially those with a tendency to procrastinate, could always use a nudge or a tip  toward something really cool – and some of us like to be comfortable to boot – so it’s in this spirit that I give an enthusiastic thumbs-up to the Found Item Clothing Halloween Costume Guide.

Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China

Portland, OR-based Found Item are fine purveyors of painstakingly re-created t-shirts from film and TV, with many extraordinarily cool items from titles like This Is Spinal Tap, Revenge of the Nerds, The A-Team and more, as well as some nifty “inspired by” shirts. (“Abe Froman, Sausage King of Chicago”, anyone?)

In their costume guide, they provide you with links for how to gather all the other accessories you’ll need on top of their tees to complete your look… for example, where to pick up a gnarly mullet and knife so you can have the iconic look of ol’ Jack Burton from Big Trouble in Little China up there.  Also, unless you’re such a smooth operator that you already own a pair of turquoise slacks, they are a part of the manual on how to get the style of Teen Wolf’s Stiles. (Seriously, still one of my favorite shirts they’ve ever done):

Stiles from Teen Wolf

One complaint, if I had any, might be that they are lacking in the ladies’ costumes a bit; Darla from Dazed & Confused and Ariel from Footloose are both pretty great, though, and there are a few others. Not that this has stopped me from reverse-dragging it in years past as, in my humble opinion, the ultimate movie nerd: Chris Knight from Real Genius. (That costume was a BIG hit at the Devo Halloween show, let me tell you.)  And this year, I’m sorely tempted to frump it up with my own tribute to Bill Murray/Bob Wiley

Baby steps, people. Baby steps.  Please share your favorites, as well as any other recommendations for good Halloween gear (tees or otherwise) in the comments!
