1000 Books, 1000 Miles Project
by Jessica Barton on August 9, 2010
This is a departure from my usual book reviewing/new releases post, obviously, but it’s a good’un! Good’in? Good one. There, that’s better.
Anyway! A patron of our illustrious site brought this to my attention (thanks Rhiannon!) and I just had to share it with you all:

It’s an uplifting tale, I promise! A school library floods in Missouri, a teacher calls for help and another answers… from New Jersey. The end result is one thousand books travelling one thousand miles from New Jersey to Missouri, powered ENTIRELY by volunteers.
HOW’S THAT FOR NERD LOVE?!
I suggest you start with this post and then this one and then keep on readin’! It’s enough to make any book nerd feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside.

Thanks for giving the project some love, Jessica!! The books have reached their destination and are being sorted and cataloged. Go Nerd Power!!!
Thank you so much for picking this up. I am so very grateful to all the people who helped me bring these books into my school’s library!
Wow, thanks for picking this up! I’m still so excited that everyone came together to bring BOOKS to kids.
You’re all welcome — it was an awesome project, couldn’t pass up mentioning it!
