Phil Plait’s Bad Universe!
by Chris Hardwick on July 28, 2010
My hilarious and brilliant friend Phil Plait, aka, @badastronomer, has a SUPER kick-ass series coming to a Discovery Channel near you hopefully very soon.
Holy shits, Phil! I can’t wait to watch this!!!

That looks pretty amazing! Btw, wtf is a shitrope? Obviously one I wouldn’t want to grab in an emergency. Gotta love the crazy words you come up with, Chris!
AWESOME!!! can’t wait to watch!!!
That looks freakin’ brilliant! When will this air?
Discovery Channel… is there any other channel?
No. No there is not…
Except for AMC…
oh and HBO and Showtime… but otherwise no.
That does look really cool. I’ll be sure to check it out when it comes on.
Chris, did you edit that made-up word that really was there, and change it to just “shits”? Now people are gonna be all “wtf is she talking about?” Or not. Of course, I’m a fan of nerds, including you, so maybe it’s par for the course…Still think this new tv show is gonna be cool.
Yay! I recently became aware of Phil Plait (either through your twitter or the Bad Science blog…I can’t remember…) and he is all kinds of awesome. I will be watching the shit outta this show when it airs.
And…he will come on the podcast, yes?
I have been aware of Bad Astronomy for a while (the website was recommended to me ages ago at… Space Camp!), so it is awesome to see someone finally giving the dude his own show instead of just a guest spot on another series.
Fun fact: I once ran into Phil Plait at a small Dragon*Con party. I was rather drunk and I complimented him on his “I heart heliocentrism” shirt (seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/badastronomy/2822934967/ and wtf? Scalzi was there that year and I didn’t know?). I only realized who it was I had met a few weeks later while looking at photos from the party. Obviously I’ll know who he is the next time I meet him.
Maybe this will finally be the push Phil needs to get that illusive Nerdist Podcast booking *hint*hint*
This looks so cool. I can’t wait for it to come out.
I will definitely watch.
