I’m your nerd host, Chris Hardwick
Nerdist is a place where we nerds come together and share the nerdery that we find. It's also my home to various elements of the Nerdist Empire. You might recognize me from TV. You don't realize that's where you know me from, but it is. You think you went to college with me or I look like your cousin's friend, but that is not the case. At one time or another you stumbled upon me on your moving picture box in such cerebral gems as MTV's "Singled Out" and Noam Chomsky's "Shipmates." and so much more...

I wasn’t sure where exactly to put this since there’s no contact email but I figured that putting it here is as good a place as any.
There are a bunch of episodes of Wired Science on Hulu, Chris. So if you ever wanted to fap to yourself while the other self is talking about science, then now’s the chance.
I have to disagree with the portion about us never being satisfied…until I bought an iPhone I was never satisfied with any cell phone I owned…now I could never see myself owning another phone. Completely satisfied, even without the iPhone 4 updates.
can’t wait to listen! just out of curiosity (and because of the drive) how long are the live podcasts ?
excited to listen to this. i was following your twitter and gdgt.com’s live blog for the entire keynote. i am so badly torn between desperately wanting an iphone, but not wanting to pay $100/month for a phone that doesn’t make or receive calls.
i’ve added/edited the podcast’s list of life altering inventions
1 god
2 penicillin
3 car
4 high fructose corn syrup
5 iphone
Rabble rabble rabble. How dare you not have a guest from the entertainment industry on your show. Rabble rabble rabble rabble. I pay nothing to be entertained by your wondrous talents and this is how you repay me? Rabble rabble rabble. I mean, to have three random nerds from tech sites on your podcast is unfathomable. It’s not as if the podcast has the word “nerd” in it somewhere.
If you couldn’t already tell, that rant is completely untrue (except for the fact that you entertain us for free!). Chris, the podcast is awesome and so is your site, and so are you! I cannot consume enough of it, and your format is really great. It really gives a great insight into your guests as real, breathing humanoids, and not just the persona they portray whilst entertaining.
Thank you for being you!
PS, Since I am totally getting an iPhone 4 when it comes out this summer, is there any chance of a sweet nerdist skin for the new phone?
What happened to Episode 20? Did we skip that one?
I was wondering the same thing, oh these abstract apple users…
Podcast 20 is here -> http://afx.cc/alisonbrie Got the link and listened to it yesterday off of twitter, not sure why it isn’t on the main podcast page.
FACETIME
Man – I’m really loving the Nerdist podcast. It has rapidly climbed to the top of my “must listen” list. Kudos, Nerdist team.
FYI for anyone who wants to look into the mentioned To-Do List apps: Zenbe costs $2.99.
When I saw that Nerdist was doing a WWDC wrap-up, I groaned out loud, thinking “great, ANOTHER podcast about the new iPhone”.
I’m glad I listened to it. It was awesome that Jason was on and so gracious.
And now, I have a new battle cry – FACETIME!
faceTIIIIIIIME!!!
Love the podcast, keep up the great work…but for christ sake stop talking about the Lost finale! I’m netflixing the shit out of it and you keep almost spoiling it!
WoooooooooOOOOOOooooooo…
I’d bet $20 you stayed at the W on 3rd and Howard. I used to work across the street from that place. The freakin fire house next door was the bane of my existence.
I think a big reason for the rampant hatred is that Apple actively cultivates it with PR (the Mac vs PC ads for example). The “I’m better than you because I only use Macs” attitude that is portrayed is very irritating, especially since the introduction of Windows 7 where now Macs and PCs excluding minor pros and cons with each platform are nearly identical.
@duder. The apple products are just generally superior. They have a panache you don’t get on any other product in any industry. Can’t wait for my apple sports car.
Problem is, Apple is also an evil fascist empire. The reason I haven’t given my real email address is as an iPhone developer I can’t. If anyone at apple tracked back my email address my apps would become VERY hard to clear submission. You should heard the horror stories at the Game Developer’s Conference.
It’s the German tossup. Amazing technology that far surpasses everyone else, you just have to overlook a little cultural eer. . . house cleaning.
You briefly mentioned something in this cast about hoping that the cast never goes to video. I have to agree. =) Being able to listen keeps me mobile and I am not beholden to a screen. There is freedom for the listener of a radio program or a podcast that is lost is visual media (perhaps this is because I currently have no DVR…) PLUS- though a lover of tech (and Apple specifically), I still believe that there is a point where achieving optimum convenience and empowerment reaches saturation gives way to becoming burdened by your toys. See also the “nerd tool belt.”
Hey Chris! Love the show, have watched since episode one, but for THE LOVE OF EINSTEIN GET A FRAKING FLIP CAM! an cheap 20 dollar web cam, a cell phone, GET A FRAKING SKIETCH ARTIST if you have to! if you do an episode THIS BIG again and don’t have video I am going to be forced to keep LISTENING in bitter nerd anger!!! seriously i dont know the differences between Ryan Block and Jason Chen’s voices! how am i supposed to tell who is making a pathetic attempt to keep up with your comedic genius with lame nerd references if i cant see there nerdy millionaire faces, COME ON HARDWICK GET WITH 1940s AND GET SOME FRAKING VIDEO.
An angry nerd
Mike
Love the show in general, but had to turn this one off after about 20 minutes of Jason Chen’s complete lack of objectivity. My 4 year old doesn’t pout that much.
I guess anytime you love something to much people will mock you. That said when can we dedicate a whole podcast to the McRib?
I think this is slightly relevant – an article talking about the foley work on what I thought was a great movie, Brand Upon the Brain: http://www.branduponthebrain.com/foley.html. I saw this movie with the foley performed live (it took three foley artists and a castrato to do it); at the concession stand before the film there was a big bunch of celery just kind of hanging out by the popcorn machine and I said to my friend, “I wonder what THAT’S for.” and one of the crew leered over the counter at me and said, “It’s for the BREAKING BONES!” Foley artists are cool.
P.S. Chris, you are the best, I feel like I’ve grown up with you in a way since I used to watch Singled Out all the time in junior high school and now I’m so happy to have rediscovered how funny and awesome you are on the Nerdist podcast. Thanks for being great!!!
All hail the power and glory that is Apple! Wonderful podcast, as is to be expected.
Though I must agree that I’m not really all that sure how much facetime is gonna be going on with me. Pretty sure not one person I know will be getting this glorious piece of technological awesomeness.
