Weird Al is the nicest guy in the world, Chris is nice but tends to get impatient with automated customer service phone menus, Jonah is the same size as John Cusak and Matt is shattered that the Dave Matthews Band is taking a break from touring in 2011.

  15. Just a quick non-sarcastic thanks to Matt for pointing out that DMB is taking next summer off – I had no idea. The annual summer DMB concert is a tradition going back to university with my best friend, and now what the hell are we supposed to do in 2011? I already know – she’ll go to see Justin (Bieber, Timberlake, it doesn’t really matter) and I’ll go see Vampire Weekend or something and we’ll drift apart forever I guess. Ah well, at least now we’ll pay extra close attention at the Toronto show next week.

  21. Chris, great podcast!! Yes, Al is one of the very nice ones. I’ve met him 4 times now. I’m the crazy lady who brings him cookies and candy in his image. LOL! *Yes, Weird Al cookies were first before @nerdist cookie came along. Your cookie was inspired by Al* :) Anyway, thanks for doing these podcasts. This is kinda cute/funny: I remember Al showing us the bonus features on the UHF DVD at AlCon III. He demonstrated that you could watch the movie in French with Spanish subtitles. *Might be the other way around. It’s been 8 years* His reasoning? “Because I can!” So great!

  24. Hey, maybe you guys know: Is there any way to get the old MTV “Al TV ” on DVD (or even VHS)? I can’t find them anywhere… and my old recordings are lost.

  25. Rich, I think you’re SOL as far as getting any of the Al TV’s on dvd/vhs. You would have to find some videophile who recorded them on VHS back in the day, and then beg him/her to transfer them to dvd, or even make vhs copies. I only have a few myself. It would be awesome to have them all, though.

You guys are worth it…one bone to pick…You guys didn’t ask Weird Al about his appearance on MTV’s Remote Control! After he won, he put his legs around his head, confetti raining down, waving his arms….funny shit.

  34. Jonah mentioned seeing Bette Midler’s brother at his record store (Jelly’s?) brought back long-dormant memories of seeing him walk about Manoa with his headset-radio. I must know, what music did he buy?

  35. Weird Al is awesome. I suspect he is a secret genius, practicing theories alone in his basement that would make even Einstein blush with envy. Just sayin ;)
