Recently I became email pals with Mike Shinoda of the band Linkin Park and have found him to be two of my favorite things: super-smart and super-nice. This is a special “one-on-one” podcast, with just Mike and myself, as Jonah and Matt were both out of town doing out of town things. Don’t worry, though, I’m sure Matt was liking the Dave Matthews Band wherever he was.

  1. I love Mike Shinoda!! This is such a great and interview and it really does show how smart, nice, and all around awesome he is. Gosh I love him! I am so glad to have found this on his Twitter aha!

    Btw, that photo of the two of you is simply amazing and hilarious too but it teaches us to reach for the stars. Haha and the Go For It song is epic and very inspirational and fun as well. This is my first time on this site and I will definitely be coming back! :)

I realize this epi is a couple months old–it was one that I had skipped because I’m not a huge fan of Linkin Park (but I loved it anyway, Mike Shinoda is a pretty cool cat), but later said “what the heck” and got caught up–but I was wondering if, during the speaking part of “Go For It” the two gents are Jonah Ray Kevin Pereira? Regardless, the whole thing was deLIGHTful and I heartily enjoy the podcast as a whole, so thanks! XD

  13. Hey, Chris Hardwick, I’m pretty sure it was David Foster Wallace (RIP) who developed the whole “filter age” angle. In the foreword he wrote to The Best American Essays 2007, of which he was the editor, he talked about his role as “the decider” for the people who would read, or consume, the book. It was, as always with Wallace, an insight of mind bending prescience.
