Nerdist Podcast #12: OK Go!

by Chris Hardwick on April 23, 2010

Number 12: OK Go!

BONUS EPISODE! Normally we’re a once-a-week operation but somehow we’re at a point where we have a few “in the can” as they say in the Entertainment Biz (and I assume the Pornography Biz as well) so I wanted to get these guys on as soon as it was possible. Damian Kulash and Tim Nordwind are super smart, very nice dudes who have made some of the best videos in recent memory through the use of those super-smarts and a willing army of creative fans willing to help out (nerdsourcing). It was a genuine pleasure hanging out with them.

Love their videos. That last one that they actually could get out on the YouTubes, the RubeGoldbergian one? Excellence.

Yay bonus podcast! Awesome stuff! I love these guys. I’m actually in the process of doing an email interview for my music blog with them.

I seriously hope you aren’t claiming pornography is not entertainment.

Dear Senor Nerdist, where can we see the Henson Frank Oz video? Really enjoying the pods and pod cross pollination with Adam and Doug’s shows – grow that brand yo.

Chris, You HAVE to write “Sasparilla in the Summertime!” The 9/2/09 episode of the You Look Nice Today (The Tux Age) has a lot of awesome fake ’20s singing, check it out.

Wow, that was really fantastic. It’s awesome hearing artists who are so genuinely excited about what they’re doing. I definitely gave them a second look after listening to this.

Thank you for putting up this bonus ep!!! This podcast is the best thing ever, please never stop making it.

Come to Georgia. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee? Pretty please? Cherry on top? I’ll settle for one of the Carolinas or Tennessee, too. My name is the same as the woman who designed a nerdist t shirt AND my birthday is soon AND I am in total agreement with Matt Smith being THE BEST Dr. Who. How can you say no?

Todraw April 25, 2010 at 2:23 pm

Liked that one. :)

I started a band in the beginning of the year and named it TED DANSON as a temporary name. We eventually fell in love with the name. At an open mic one night, the MC suggested changing the spelling to TED DANCIN’. We embraced the new name with open arms. I casually hear on of my favorite podcast and find out that there is a DJ by that name. I am saddened.

Could my band live with the name Ted Danson? Or is there some legal issue with that and the actor?

So great! I love them and couldn’t believe that Damian feels the same about the Pixies and Kermit as I do! <3<3<3 Funky vibe!

My god! I freaked when I saw this. I was excitied enough when you mentioned Ok Go before but this is tops man.

This side by side with the Adam Savage episode and the Tom Lennon episode has mos def put this podcast as number one in my heart.

Keep up the awesome!

I hate sounding like a ass-kissing fan girl, but this show is never not good. I’m also a huge muppet fan, so okgo better damn well do that video. it will be great. I still cry every time i see clips from the jim henson memorial service. also mr. hardwick, you know what would be totally brain exploding? GETTING AN INTERVIEW WITH STEPHEN MOFFAT. work on it, nerd king.

Great podcast as always!!! I could feel the awkwardness that came from the balogna muffin comment, it was hilarious.

smartbunny April 29, 2010 at 7:31 am

Ham Wallet, Chris. It was Ham Wallet.

Also, wasn’t there an 8-bit game with General Custer or something where he would f*ck an Indian girl up against a cactus? His little peepee would come out like a line and jam into her?

bschap April 29, 2010 at 2:06 pm

when is polterchrist goin on tour. im ichin here man.

smartbunny April 29, 2010 at 5:27 pm

Oh! Oh! Bloodbath & Beyond is from The Simpsons. I knew I had heard that before. That’s ok, if I had a band I would call it Screamapillar.

leviohsa May 10, 2010 at 9:10 am

I love this podcast. I read about it twice yesterday and I knew I had to check it out. I listened to 3 episodes today & laughed my ass off. Lucky thing I don’t have a job – I didn’t realize they would be 1hr each when I started. I wish I lived in L.A. – I’m a funny, nerdy girl – I could be your token female commenter. But I’m in NY, so I’ll have to settle for listening and laughing so hard I have to pause the podcast sometimes.

I know this comment is heaps late, but what happened to OK GO making the muppet song? I really wanna hear it.
