Nerdist Podcast: Live @ Largo w/ Adam Savage! [NSFW]

I’m very lucky in my life to have smart, exceptionally nice friends. I happily count Mythbusters‘ own Adam Savage in that group and I was thrilled that he joined us for our very first live podcast. This was recorded at Largo in Los Angeles on April 5th, 2010 in front of a kick-ass crowd of delightful humans. As these people had exchanged hard-earned dollars for seats to this show, we made it a little longer than a normal podcast by incorporating live performances and taking Q & A from them at the end.

*SPECIAL NOTE: Adam did stand-up for the FIRST TIME in his life and DESTROYED. It was truly hilarious and I hope he continues to do it!

*SPECIAL NOTE #2: We all swear a lot in this, so if you wanted to listen to this with your kids, think again unless you’re sure the Internet has already taught them way worse things than F-bombs.

  1. Well, damn Adam Savage for KILLING so completely on his very first time. He had his own voice, point of view, impeccable timing, a perfectly flowing story, et al. Great episode.

  2. I almost crashed my bike listening to this it was so funny! People were staring at me all day trying to figure out why I was laughing so hard. I think I’m getting my friends to listen to this. I was raving about it for hours!

  4. Fantastic show! I love the question about the chemistry safety video! That guy had THE nerd voice! Everyone in the room had to have noticed it! I’m surprised no one made a comment! God bless that guy!

    Also, I had a nerdgasm while I was listening to this. I need a mop.

  8. This was one of the single most entertaining podcasts I have ever heard. It was made of pure sterling silver awesome. Adam did kill, there is no way I would have thought that was his first time doing stand-up.

    I will keep spreading the word about this podcast.

  11. I love you for the intro stand up! I live in Dallas, so seeing Chris Hardwick do stand up is just not gonna happen me thinks. Rest of the podcast was not too shabby either. Jonah’s clown laugh makes me giggle.

  12. I’m almost positive I heard Penn tell the chimp/little person story on his old radio show. Apparently, any little person who’s worked on a circus knows the rule about staying away from chimps.

  13. I was reading your Wikipedia page looking for your bother Peter. I couldn’t find him, but when I went to your dads page he was there. “He is also the father of the comedian and television personality Chris Hardwick, Emily Hardwick, an Art Major at UC Santa Cruz, as well as the fabulously talented Peter Hardwick, who has won numerous awards for his unique brand of stand-up comedy and is now teaching abroad in Japan.[2]“

  18. Great show, I have listened to it for the third time this week. I can’t rave enough about the Nerdist Podcast, to friends and frankly to anyone who will listen. I can’t wait for each new podcast, you guys are doing a great job and keep up the great work. Smart, FUNNY and FUN.
    Not a lot of entertainment now a days that has all three.

  19. I just listened to the episode this weekend… awesome episode, loved the stand up by Adam. He is much funnier when he’s just talking about himself rather than hamming it up. I love him wherever he shows up on the interwebs

  39. I had to go to the dentist today to have a couple cavities filled. I was hoping to deter the dentist from talking to me and distract myself from the proceedings so I had planned on having a few episodes of Doctor Who. My iPod touch decided to fail me and refused to play either episode. I almost gave up but then I realized that I have some Nerdist podcasts on there and I could listen to one of those. I chose this one because I hadn’t heard it in several months. The dentist of course kept trying to talk to me so I turned down the podcast and when I turned it back up the line, “a cape made out of dicks” is the first thing I heard.

    Let me just say…it was a difficult moment because at that moment I was being shot with novocaine and obviously couldn’t move. By that point I was also happily floating in nitrous oxide land so you can imagine the struggle.

  40. Ok, I think I give up for now. These early podcasts don’t seem to be listenable for me. That makes me a sad nerd.
