Comix in NY Tonight!

by Chris Hardwick on March 12, 2010

Here’s where it all started. On Christmas Day in 1981, my parents gave me the gift of an official Andy Gibb wireless microphone that played through any standard radio. My act is slightly less dirty than it was back then, but the passion to tell jokes to strangers with an amplification device remains.

I will be doing this very thing at Comix in NYC tonight and tomorrow at 8 & 10:30. Please join myself and special guests Jonah Ray (of Web Soup & Nerdist Podcast) and God’s Pottery. This show will be amazing. And afterward we will all hug you.

For me, it was a video camera I won on a game show when I was ten. It’s mostly just resulted in rejection and pain for me, though.

I has no idea there was an Andy Gibb wireless mic. I was on Spring Break in Daytone in ’81. LOL! Have fun doing stand-up in NYC. You were great on Fallon. This “vagina” is not scared of you or any other nerd.

If I lived out there, I would go. So, I’ll just Astral-project myself to your show. If you feel a presence sitting on your head during the show…no worries. That’s just my “entity” giving you a Hot Carl.

Good Luck, and have fun!

I’m glad things turned out better for you than for Andy Gibb.

I’m building a time machine specifically so I can go back in time and bang the lady in that picture.

Did they give you a bag of coke and a Victoria Principal pocket pussy the next year, to truly complete the transformation?

Wish I was in NYC! Can’t tell you how much I cracked up over this week’s podcast with Jon Hamm. So thanks for making my commute better.

P.S. You’ve got to check out this video-game-themed art exhibit with one of my fave artists Marc Johns: http://www.marcjohns.com/blog/2010/03/drawings-at-giant-robot-in-san-francisco.html

You’re blonde! I don’t want to go alone tomorrow. If I do I better get a hug!

What, you don’t celebrate Pi Day? (3/14) And you call yourself a nerd. I beg to differ.

Mine was a tape recorder. I started doing audio tapes of me doing totally inappropriate things and it seems even though I’m 38 now, things haven’t changed at all. My podcast is still sick and twisted and that tape recorder helped me begin a friendship that has endured since sixth grade. My friend and I still do basically the same thing each week except with better equipment.

Someone needs to update their press kit! You selling yourself short with that ancient bio Comix used on their website.

Meg March 18, 2010 at 8:14 pm

wanted to say thanks for hugs and for signing my stuff after the show! (not sure i said it at the time! scandal! how rude!)

my jersey girl and i enjoyed everything; i posted the pic of you and i on twitpic with a caption from my dad. my mom had to add in her two cents as well and give her HO that you were quite cute.

lastly, i meant to tell you that you were the best ending to a hellish week for me in more ways than one! i missed telling you that in person. and i thought it important! keep on keepin’ on, you’re always such sunshine on the twitter/internet/g4tv wavelengths for me! oh, and i can’t wait to hear more about the book you are doing that you mentioned on jimmyfallon.

ciao, and enjoy the weekend!
