More Auto-Tuned Science!

by Chris Hardwick on October 19, 2009

John Boswell, the madly brilliant sound-chemist who Auto-Tuned his way into our hearts with “A Glorious Dawn” featuring Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking, has launched the laud-worthy project “Symphony of Science” which is “designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form.” You couldn’t ask for a better goal than that.

The second track (on what I hope is an album’s worth of material) is entitled “We Are Connected” and features a returning Sagan, Richard Feynman, Neil deGrasse Tyson & Bill “50 Cent(iliter)” Nye.

I have also had the pleasure of striking up an email correspondence with Mr. Boswell, and have found him to be a top notch chap. As long as he keeps making these videos, I’ll keep posting them. It’s a much more noble use of this digital enhancement feature than some pop music assclown trying to mask his/her inability to hold a note.

While I stand and applaud this project, you may download the songs here. They are free of charge, but I highly recommend kicking in a small donation on his page to support this kind of artistic geekery.

Seriously Chris,

Thank you for this update. REALLY looking forward to more songs from John. There’s something so great about how Sagan talks and anunciates. Its amusing to try to duplicate.

A glorious dawn is definitely a jump off. Tip of the hat, sir.

This is better than the last: the song aspect is more noticeable. Thanks, Chris, for your continued posting.

This is great! My wife, Connie Barlow, a science writer is on a crusade to get the national media in America to report on this phenomena – and John Boswell’s new genre of sacred science music videos. See here: http://thankgodforevolution.com/node/1947 where she’ll culled her favorite comments.

Unlike every pop star on the charts, Carl Sagan (and company) doesnt need this crap to be interesting. His message is the most important thing anyone’s said in ten thousand years. Listen and know.

We as a society, and I mean global society, don’t do enough to promote science. This helps, although I don’t think it’ll bring any kids to think science is the awesome thing it is that didn’t already think so. Good dig at Kanya “I’mma Let You Finish” West too.
