Holy Shit I’ve been excited for this movie ever since my girlfriend told me about it. i loved the book and i even have it on my bookshelf next to me. hands down the best childrens book ever and soon to be the best movie ever
Working now, thanks so much for posting this!!! It was my favourite book as a child and looks to be a fantastic movie! I’m keeping a realistic amount of hope, though, as I’ve been burned by many fantastic trailers.
That’s one of the better uses I’ve seen of Wake Up, I have to say. Good song.
There’s something about the trailer that makes me think of Terry Gilliam, possibly because of Time Bandits and Jabberwocky. The imagery reminds me of those films.
Grew up reading & re-reading the Sendak book “Where the Wild Things Are” and in so many ways felt like it was the story of my childhood and life.
When I heard that Spike Jonze was directing I felt the tears of joy tugging at my heart, because I just knew that he would connect the motion images to what I saw and felt inside my mind for all these years.
The trailer is magnificent! Just the right hint of raw and wild appeal that draws you in, sans the Disney-esque glossiness.
I cannot wait for my boy child to see this.
If only we had someone to go with us that wanted to really take hold and be a real second dad (or second mum) to this amazing kid i am raising. That’s how much seeing the book become this movie means to me. I’ve waited forever.
Reminds me of the cheesy (c’mon you know it’s true) Jim Henson Muppet style costumes in Fraggle Rock and that flying thing in The Neverending Story. You’d think costume technology would have evolved after 25 years.
spike jonze made my life in the 90′s via music videos, it’s good to see him work on a project that he can totally thrive with, and btw i love that he still uses that warm sunny “naturey” look!
oh my freakin gosh! one of the best books ever! never thought when i was little that i would ever see a live action version of this movie and now i’m about to pee my pants waiting.
I can’t wait! My hubby bought Max & Goatboy figurines years before we met knowing he was going to name his son Max (after a Grandfather)….our Max is going to be 3 in Sept. and he looks just like the Max in the movie…(at least he will at that age).
I just made my 18+ year old step-dtr sit down and watch this with me. I cried. She teared up. IT WILL BE EPIC. It’s the first thing she and I have agreed on in months. And that is how powerful the freakin’ preview is.

Agreed.
Same director as “Being John Malkovich” which makes me think this is going to be epic. The styles will mesh well together.
I saw this earlier and I cried.. omg I cannot wait for this to come out.. one of my favorite books growing up.

Fixed!
Holy fucknuggets, that took you all of 18 minutes. Impressive. Plus, what you doing up at 4:30am checking emails, cracka?
Never read that book, but the story, based on the 2 minute trailer, looks inspiring.
Reminds me of the cheesy (c’mon you know it’s true) Jim Henson Muppet style costumes in Fraggle Rock and that flying thing in The Neverending Story. You’d think costume technology would have evolved after 25 years.
How dare you say that about Jim Henson’s muppetry…
Okay, you have a point. DAMMIT!
FREAKING AWESOME! I love the book and this looks fantastic.

I’m listening to an old interview with Maurice Sendak on NPR. Even more endearing now: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4680590
wow. another potentially bad movie adaptation/ “re-imagining” from a beloved book. buzzkill.
This is giving me multiple heart-attacks due to unmitigated awesomeness.
