Agreed.

eye-shuh March 25, 2009 at 10:40 am

Same director as “Being John Malkovich” which makes me think this is going to be epic. The styles will mesh well together.

Holli March 25, 2009 at 10:42 am

I saw this earlier and I cried.. omg I cannot wait for this to come out.. one of my favorite books growing up.

Chris Hardwick March 25, 2009 at 11:00 am

The server might be taking a beating. Try back though! It’s worth it!!!

Alissa March 25, 2009 at 11:15 am

woohoo. a friend was going to sneak into monsters vs. aliens just to see this trailer. Jonze cut his own trailer too. isn’t that cute? yes it is.

Zach March 25, 2009 at 11:16 am

Working now, thanks so much for posting this!!! It was my favourite book as a child and looks to be a fantastic movie! I’m keeping a realistic amount of hope, though, as I’ve been burned by many fantastic trailers.

Warren March 25, 2009 at 11:24 am

That’s one of the better uses I’ve seen of Wake Up, I have to say. Good song.

There’s something about the trailer that makes me think of Terry Gilliam, possibly because of Time Bandits and Jabberwocky. The imagery reminds me of those films.

But … October 16th? Sheesh!

Charity March 25, 2009 at 11:25 am

Holy Cow! How is it that I hadn’t heard about this? Thank you so much for posting this!

TonyWasRight March 25, 2009 at 11:32 am

torben March 25, 2009 at 12:02 pm

Oh, the excitement…

HippyGourmet March 25, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Grew up reading & re-reading the Sendak book “Where the Wild Things Are” and in so many ways felt like it was the story of my childhood and life.

When I heard that Spike Jonze was directing I felt the tears of joy tugging at my heart, because I just knew that he would connect the motion images to what I saw and felt inside my mind for all these years.

The trailer is magnificent! Just the right hint of raw and wild appeal that draws you in, sans the Disney-esque glossiness.

Bravo Mr. Jonze!

Dumblond March 25, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I can’t wait to see that! It looks so cool! Thank you for sharing that!

manny March 25, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Alex March 25, 2009 at 7:07 pm

OH.MY.GOD!!!

Athena March 25, 2009 at 9:11 pm

Good god – I am going to cry.

I cannot wait for my boy child to see this.
If only we had someone to go with us that wanted to really take hold and be a real second dad (or second mum) to this amazing kid i am raising. That’s how much seeing the book become this movie means to me. I’ve waited forever.

Zeus March 26, 2009 at 2:45 am

Help! This is awsomely auspicious and I aggradiate appreciatively!!!!!!

Deltus March 26, 2009 at 4:21 am

Video removed due to terms of service violations. Just another case of the Man keepin’ us down!!!

Chris Hardwick March 26, 2009 at 4:39 am

Fixed!

Deltus March 26, 2009 at 7:23 am

Holy fucknuggets, that took you all of 18 minutes. Impressive. Plus, what you doing up at 4:30am checking emails, cracka?

Never read that book, but the story, based on the 2 minute trailer, looks inspiring.

Klink March 26, 2009 at 7:46 am

Reminds me of the cheesy (c’mon you know it’s true) Jim Henson Muppet style costumes in Fraggle Rock and that flying thing in The Neverending Story. You’d think costume technology would have evolved after 25 years.

Deltus March 26, 2009 at 11:36 am

How dare you say that about Jim Henson’s muppetry…

Okay, you have a point. DAMMIT!

shaun March 26, 2009 at 1:41 pm

FREAKING AWESOME! I love the book and this looks fantastic.

Doomsdaychicken March 26, 2009 at 1:58 pm

spike jonze made my life in the 90′s via music videos, it’s good to see him work on a project that he can totally thrive with, and btw i love that he still uses that warm sunny “naturey” look!

Linda March 27, 2009 at 8:22 am

I’m listening to an old interview with Maurice Sendak on NPR. Even more endearing now: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4680590

cruz March 29, 2009 at 8:26 am

wow. another potentially bad movie adaptation/ “re-imagining” from a beloved book. buzzkill.

Jen March 30, 2009 at 4:30 am

This is giving me multiple heart-attacks due to unmitigated awesomeness.

jennifer April 2, 2009 at 8:18 pm

oh my freakin gosh! one of the best books ever! never thought when i was little that i would ever see a live action version of this movie and now i’m about to pee my pants waiting.

Dorian Wallace April 7, 2009 at 7:51 pm

I can’t wait! My hubby bought Max & Goatboy figurines years before we met knowing he was going to name his son Max (after a Grandfather)….our Max is going to be 3 in Sept. and he looks just like the Max in the movie…(at least he will at that age).

Breagan April 23, 2009 at 6:34 pm

I think I’m going to cry. Cant wait!

ravan May 12, 2009 at 12:17 pm

i haven’t been so excited in YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! O. M. G.!!!!!!!!!!!

MdmRptr May 14, 2009 at 5:32 pm

I just made my 18+ year old step-dtr sit down and watch this with me. I cried. She teared up. IT WILL BE EPIC. It’s the first thing she and I have agreed on in months. And that is how powerful the freakin’ preview is.

Megan June 21, 2009 at 12:39 pm

No Way! … This will be awesome.
