Re-Rating The 3G iPhone

As many of you may know Attack of the Show reviewed the 3G iPhone the day it came out. We gave it a 98%. Now, I wasn’t there the day it was reviewed but don’t think I’m trying to slip out of taking responsibility—I probably would’ve given it the same rating. After living with this device for over a month I feel that it’s necessary to re-review the 3G iPhone. I will do this on Friday’s Attack of the Show. As you may be guessing, I’m probably not reviewing it again so I rate it higher than 98%…

Make sure you tune in to G4’s AOTS, this Friday, to see the results. In the meantime, here’s the original review:

  • Well at first I was excited about this, with my whole I hate apple thing. Then my coworker asked me what I was talking about with concern to the Iphone (I had beel talking with glee about the rerating with my bf on the phone at work) and after I told him and he basically said the following: “I have never really had much issue with it. I don’t get dropped calls or disconnected internet issues. And I don’t use too many applications at a time on my phone plus I have a charger for my car and one at work so I can listen to internet radio. I only had some brief issues with the typing.”

Then I realized that the biggest issue with the net probably isn’t a huge issue in Orlando since it’s barely a city. Or we happen to be the only city not having a problem. And that my coworker hears everything I say on the phone. Sigh, the illusion of privacy in cubicles is the worst….

  • I’ve been using the new 3G phone since roughly a week after it was launched. To say that I’m disappointed with the battery life would be a MASSIVE understatment. And, yes, I know I’m not the only one.

In addition, the city in which I live does not get the 3G network. I know! So, I’m still on the Edge network anyway. However, I will say that I do enjoy having access to all the applications (my previous iPhone was ~sshhhh~ an unlocked phone so I was always limited on what I could do with it).

All in all, I do like the new 3G iPhone better than the Gen 1 iPhone. If only I didn’t have to carry a charger with me EVERYWHERE I go for fear of running out of battery life….

Can’t wait to see the show with the new review!

  • I finally decided to get one, despite the lack of integrated voice dialing — and I’ve been very satisfied. Sure, there are some glitches, but the fact that this kind of technology was pretty much science fiction less than ten years ago kinda makes up for that. I’ve been impressed by the variety of apps that are available already, too. It reminds me of the heyday of the Palm(Pilot) community. Where will things be in a year’s time?

For those of us that don’t even get G4, will you please post a video of the new review once it’s available?

  • 50%!!!!!!

heh, i’m still using the iphone Edge, and it’s still the same phone i enjoyed before the 3g came out.

but a few of my co-workers changed to iphone when the 3g came out. looks cool. i’m waiting for xmas time when they probably release a 32gig or something weird.

wow i’m actually WAITING… not being an early adopter! this is a rare moment….
