Believe me, I do grasp the irony of this post juxtaposed with the one right before it, but word from the front lines was the opposite of good. At one Apple Store continuing activation problems destroyed the “15 minutes per customer” thing they were shooting for–the first iPhone didn’t leave the store until 8:35, and over the next two hours only a handful of phones made it out. On top of that, I heard that the EZPay credit card swipers that are strapped to the sales folk like pistols were crashing (PS – those run on Windows Mobile. I wonder if Bill Gates ever calls Steve Jobs and says, “Hey cowboy, I’m inside you,” just to rub that in). These giant snags are understandable…I mean AT&T and Apple only had SEVERAL months to prepare for this day.

It’s been crazy! I would love to be able to charge back my time lost on this.

Yeah I went to update my iPhone this morning with the new 2.0 software and didn’t really think anything of it, I thought it might be a little slow to download, but my phone got bricked. I waited about 3 hours on the net and I had to leave for work, sans phone. Let me just tell you I realized HOW BORING my job is without my phone.
But I just got home, plugged in my phone to my Macbook and it went along with the rest of the update fine. I am currently syncing my applications.
But when I got home my mom acted as if it were my fault my phone stopped working today. Well I’m sorry that I expect something to WORK when its released.
But I’ve got it now and thats what matters. Now I just have to mess around with all these apps….
Oh the irony…the EZPay swipers inside the Apple store run on Windows…and they were all crashing…SABOTAGE I say! ; ) I’m going to wait for the ‘bugs’ to get worked out and the lines to go down. I know, ‘bad nerd, bad bad nerd!’

Thanks, I was beginning to question my true techno-geek/nerd status : ). I agree, I’ll wait, hopefully just long enough that I won’t be pulling my hair out when I make the move!
I haven’t gotten mine yet either. I’m going to wait until this all gets sorted out. I know it will, it’s just a matter of how long it’ll be.
After standing in line for about an hour this morning, I learned that I will not be able to buy/activate in an Apple Store due to having a corporate discount on my AT&T phone account. This means that I will have to make my purchase in an AT&T store–my stomach is churning at the prospect. Why activation will be any different in an AT&T store is beyond me…

somebody needs to give me a really good reason to get and IPhone…The way people are getting so crazed over the IPhone reminds of of when “Tickle Me Elmo” came out.
I bought my first generation iPhone from an AT&T store it wasn’t that bad and the guy was helpful. Granted I was the only person in the store, and it was a good deal after the actual release of the phone. But it really wasn’t bad. I don’t know how bad it will be what with the new iPhone in the future, but the AT&T is much closer to my house than the apple store and I had questions about the plan that I figured the AT&T guy would know much better than the Apple guys.. So if you wanna buy a new iPhone go to the AT&T store by my house here in suburban Pennsylvania. You won’t be dissapointed.
